Putri Island in Nongsa, Batam has a story or fairy tale pretty spooky. Once upon a time there was a dragon and a pig race to cross to Malaysia. On one night they fatigue, the pig finally took the dragon to rest.
“Hey Dragon we rest first, I’m really tired,” cried the pig. The dragon who also feel tired was agreed solicitation pig. “Let us take a break, we move again before sunrise,” said the dragon.
After the dragon fell asleep from exhaustion, the pig ran from the dragon. And the dragon sleep until sunrise. When the dragon awoke he could not move his body. So that over time his body turned to stone and is now known as the Putri Island. When low tide we could see the Putri Island as a dragon-shaped.
Putri Island is the outer islands of the Republic of Indonesia, which borders Singapore. On the island there are a monument. At the monument was sculpted state emblem of Garuda Pancasila and the unitary Republic of Indonesia complete with point coordinates North latitude and longitude.
In addition to the monument, in the Putri Island also there is lighthouse tower powered by solar as a guide for ships sailing in the Singapore Strait to avoid hitting the reef.
The island is only about 1 km from the Nongsa beach. At high tide the island is divided into three island. And at low tide the 3 islands will be one island. The main island has an area of only about three hundred meters with the beautiful white sand. Other parts of the island is located in the eastern part overlooking the Singapore Straits, almost half of the land has been eroded due to abrasion. In the eastern part of the island is no beach but in the form of a cliff about 10 meters altitude.
Putri Island is located only 13 km from Changi Beach Singapore. Meanwhile, Putri Island Beach distance to Johor, Malaysia about 16 Km away.
At the weekend Putri Island is visited by foreign tourists who stay in Batam View Resort, Turi Beach Resort or Nongsa Point Marina. In addition to foreign tourists, there are many local tourists who traveled to the Putri Island.
To go to the Putri Island from Nongsa Beach you can take a boat for only IDR 10,000 for commuting.
In this Putri Island you can swim or just sit and enjoy the ocean scenery while enjoying the sea breeze. In this place many locals who sell instant noodles, soft drinks, iced coconut till corn. You can also grilled fish or barbeque with family while on mats under shady trees.
