Vio Vio Beach is one of the newest beach opened in Batam, precisely located in Galang Island, Barelang. It is still under development and expansion of facilities as of this article was released (Jul 16), but the main facilities are ready to use for visitor. Actually, it was already opened several months ago.
How to go to Vio Vio Beach
As I mentioned above, Vio Vio Beach is located in Galang Island, around 50 km from main island of Batam, thru Trans Barelang road.
It will take approximately 1 hour by car. There is no public transportation here everytime. The only public transportation are buses for locals and not always available. So, it is advisable to use or rent a car to go here.
I always love to drive thru Trans Barelang road. It’s because the road is not very crowded, far away from civilization, and everywhere I look around is nature. Combination of green, red and blue. Feel so peaceful.
Vio Vio beach still in one coastline with the infamous Mirota and Melur Beach, 2 beaches which are still be Batam favorite beach destination. But now Melur Beach seems closed for public, because when I am going there, the entrance was closed by portal and guarded by securities. No further information of what us going on.
From 5th bridge, Vio Vio Beach is around 3 km. There will be a sign to guide you to the beach. It is quite big so you won’t missed out.
The entrance to Vio Vio Beach
Well, eventually, the entrance to Vio Vio beach is not too good, the road is still dirt, no asphalt at all. But, anyway, it’s quite challenging also. Hahaha.
It is required to be very careful and take full attention on the road. Aside of its dirt condition, there is also one thing we must be careful about. We will pass the hill with the slope over 45 degree.
For safety reason, please ensure your driving skill is good and vehicle you used is in good condition. Or, just leave it to the local driver if you were rented a car.
On top of the hill, you will see an amazing scenery of South China Sea and Vio Vio Beach itself, made you wanna go down faster.
Beach Facilities
As expected from a new beach, the facilities are still in good condition and fully functional. All main facilities are available and ready to use.
Parking area is quite large and well managed. There are some people which are managing the parking. Right in front of parking area, there is a canteen which serve food and and beverage for visitor. Next to canteen is shower area with clean water and toilet.
In the beach area, there aremany rest areas for visitor and some of them are rented with additional fee. Of course with more advantage like more comfortable and cleaner.
On the beach itself, there is stretch of white sands along the beach. On the right side of the beach, there is a mangrove population, and they are building the seawalk in it. But, in my last visit there, the seawalk still not completed yet.
The best time to go here is above 10AM. If you comes early, the sea level is too low. After 10AM, usually the sea level is increase. Sea water is clean and fresh, the wave is soft and not too deep, safe for children. There is also sport activity like banana boat there.
This beach also have a swing which is look alike the one in Gili Trawangan, Lombok – Sunset Swing. This accessory made Vio Vio Beach look more beautiful, same as its slogan, “Beautiful Beach”.
