Held late in January, the North East Monsoon winds produce some of the best sailing conditions in the region.
The Singapore Straits Regatta will include four days of racing and three nights of entertainment.
2013 is the 19th edition, and the event will incorporate one-design class racing as well as IRC racing (IRC A, IRC B, and IRC C) and cruising yachts racing under a Performance Handicap system.
The Regatta will also feature an individual Pursuit Race to get the boats across to Batam (Indonesia) with a return leg. The combined two Pursuit Races will count towards a new trophy.
The Singapore Straits Regatta also marks the conclusion of the three nations S.E.A. Perpetual Cup Series during which the winner is awarded the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy.
Background
The first Singapore Straits Regatta took place in 1995 and was organized by Raffles Marina, Nongsa Point Marina, and Changi Sailing Club together with the Singapore Sailing Federation.
In 1999, the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy was donated by Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC) as the Challenge Trophy for the Perpetual Cup Series comprising the three top races on the Asian Sailing Circuit – the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (Malaysia), Phuket King’s Cup Regatta (Thailand) and the Singapore Straits Regatta (Singapore).
A rotation amongst the Singapore yacht clubs and Riau Yacht Club/ Nongsa Point Marina sees the chair and main organiser of the event each year change. 2013 sees ONE°15 Marina Club as main organiser, in conjunction with Nongsa Point Marina Resort.

NOR and Entry
Foreign yachts are required to complete applications for both ‘Green Book’ and Sailing Permit to sail in Indonesian waters by January 2 latest. Also, individual visa fees are payable upon arrival in Batam – for more details on visas, visit HERE.
